Spider 2 Y Banana

It's NFL preseason.

Which means it's the season before the season.

The pre.

I used to think this part didn't matter.

But I was wrong.

This is where everything happens.

Now, I couldn't tell you the first thing about football talent evaluation but I will pretend I do.

Like everything.

And NFL preseason is a grand time to do so.

But when you're watching the game, your eyes tend to focus on the ball.

Who's got it.

Where's it going.

All ball.

All the time.

But there's a lot you miss when you focus on the ball.

You miss the blocks.

Or lack thereof.

The routes that got everyone thinking it's a pass.

Selling it.

Guys on the other side all doing their job.

And still getting beat.

All the focus is on the ball.

But all the action is off it.

I suppose there's a lesson there somewhere.

Like when I learned Supreme Court justices never write their published opinions.

It's all the clerks.

The public's glory goes to the running back who goes to the house.

Not the linemen who set it up.

Although they get their praise from the team and the back later.

What I'm saying is a lot of the true work comes with little fanfare.

Someone should do a psychological study on what makes the best lineman.

What makes the best best nose tackle.

Not physically.

But their mind.

All guts, no glory.

Getting ahead of myself.

Like always.
