Sniff Test - Pass / Fail (Circle One)

What's that called when you attract and repel certain things?

Magnetism.

Like typos in scam emails.

Supposedly done intentionally to filter out those who would easily realize it's a scam so that only the remaining susceptible-to-typos folk are left.

I'm not convinced it's intentional, but whatevs.

I don't care.

It works on a lot of levels, too.

Take accolades.

One brags and points to an accomplishment that attracts some people and repels those who know a bit more of what's involved in actually gaining it.

Like those books back in the day that were directories featuring only the best of the best.

Only to find out you just had to buy a listing.

Looks impressive to those who don't know.

"As featured in...."

💨

Creates a shudder in those that do.

Like saying you're a best selling author to the world but really it was in a niche ebook category.

Or a "true" best selling author but you just bought all of the books yourself.

Not a bad idea.

I ain't trying to hate vehemently dislike.

I'm just telling it like it is.

Or, rather, as I see it.

Which is how it is.

There are too many people out there.

Gotta narrow it down somehow.

Who you repulse, I'd argue, is even more important than who you attract.

Numbers wise.

Be repulsive to those you don't want.

Attract those that remain.

Everything is a signal.

Even the noise.

Proof's in the pudding.

Whatever that means.*

🧲

Push pull.

* The phrase comes from the 17th-century proverb, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating." Originally, "proof" meant "test". Medieval puddings were savory meat-and-grain sausages. Since meat preservation was unreliable, the only way to test if a pudding was safe and well-made was to eat it.
