Alright. It's time to talk about punches.

Now, there are a couple of ways to go about it.

But today I want to talk about knuckles.

Are you a two knuckle (index, middle) or a three knuckle (middle, ring, pinky) puncher?

I was always taught to hit with the big two, but always landed three knuckle.

Just felt more natural.

You want to make sure your knuckles are aligned with your wrist, so that your fist has the support of the entire forearm upon impact. A bent or misaligned fist is no fun.

And it's a snapping motion.

Relax, relax, whip, snap, retract.

Like a snake.

Do not clench hard when starting the punch.

Contract at impact (give or take).

Relax.

Step. Snap. Step back.

Step. Snap snap. Step back.

Step. Snap snap snap. Step back.

Good.

If your knuckles are scratched, it's because you're scraping down on the target.

Pop 'em.

In and out.

Jabs and crosses are straight lines.

Hooks and uppercuts are circles.

Everything starts and ends at your feet.

Center and turn at the waist.

The knuckles are just the follow-through of shoulders.

The inevitable.

Snap.

Now come back.

Relax.

Good.
