Painting Metrics
You would think, as studious as I am, that I'd be a data guy.
Crunching unctuous numbers.
But you'd be wrong.
Because I'm an art guy.
Vibes, baby.
Not a science.
You see, it's because data often lies.
Take for example, football stats.
Guy throws an interception.Â
Looks bad right?
On paper.
But what if it only happened because it went right through the wide receiver's hands?
Thrown perfectly, not caught.
INT.
Numbers sometimes tell a story, but not the whole story.
And so a QB could have a great night but it doesn't look like it through no fault of his own.
The trick then is, as a QB of life, to not lose confidence if you know you're doing everything right.
Just like you shouldn't get too big for your britches because your teammates make spectacular catches on your bad throws.
It's a numbers game.
But the science is in the art.Â
Numbers tell the truth.
But not the whole truth.
I swear.
