Half Penny

What would your childhood version of you think of you now?

Like 11 year old you.

What would they think?

At 11, I would think I'd now be a retired hall of famer who spent his entire career at 3B with the New York Mets.

Won a few MVPs, a few triple crowns, and, most importantly, a few championship rings.

Of course, I didn't peak in my smashing bombs days until my late 30s.

A bad time to peak.

And sadly, my fields were slow-pitch church leagues by then.

But I'd like to think 11 me would be staggered, just the same, by what's happened.

I mean, he was kinda right.

I'm sorta retired.

Sort of a hall of famer (if only in my own mind).

Won some MVF awards.

Always wear a crown or three.

And I am blessed to wear one ring.

"That's not what I meant," he'd say.

And he'd be right, of course.

It's just so much better, kid.

To dreams asked for.

And dreams given.
