Family Jewels
Bas Rutten is a hero of mine.
I don't have too many of those.
But Bas is one.
And, he made a series of MMA videos back in the day.
Even a how to protect yourself in the streets video.
It's both hilarious and educational.
Highly recommend.
Anyways, in this particular self-defense video he goes on and on about the virtues of a kick to the groin.
How simple it is.
How effective.
How we should use it.
Everybody underestimates a kick to the groin.
Meaning, all things being unequal, a kick to the nuggets tends to even things out.
May the nads be ever in your favor.
Now, as a old(ish) man of peace(ish), I would never tell you to kick someone in the chicken tenders, but do so if you need to.
Do so if you must.
And that's a good rule right?
Fight honorably.
Until you need to not.
If you're in a struggle that seems like you winning means you get to live, remember to fight dirty from the start.
What's fighting dirty?
Well, basically take a look at what you cannot do in an organized, professional, fight.
And do a whole lotta that.
Piledriving. Eye-gouging. Headbutts. Throat. Using objects. Leverage. Back of the head.
Read the list of no-no's and make 'em yes-yes's.
Only in defense of course.
When lives are at stake.
Yours or your loved ones.
And only if you are at a disadvantage.
Fight fair until it's not.
Oh, for many, it's never fair.
