Energy and Time
I used to think time was the only true currency.
And how you spent it, more than any other, was the master key to a good life.
I even heard this great line about how time is the only currency we spend without knowing its remaining balance.
Constantly spending from an account with an unknown, but ever diminishing, value.
But time has a partner.
Energy.
You could have all the time in the world (figuratively speaking) but if you have no juice, no oomph, it's probably going to be wasted.
And wasting time should be a felony (which it kind of is with the amount of time served to it).
As an old(ish) man, I've learned just how precious these two currencies are.
The seconds.
And the stamina.
All the time in the world with no giddyup is a sad fate.
And all the horsepower in a bad engine might be a sadder one.
But this is a happy musings column.
So let's work on this.
Where are you on the energy and time (EAT) scale?
Lots of time, no energy?Â
Lots of energy, no time?
No to both?
If you have lots of both, I probably want to know how you do it.
You're likely lying or insane, but you're online, so I repeat myself.
Like everything, the EAT scale has a goldilocks zone.
Enough time.Â
Enough energy.
I will tell you though.
There is infinite energy.
There is.
Infinite time?
I think so.
Just not in the way we know it.
I have tapped into infinite energy.
I have spent an eternity in a second.
And when you do it too, we feast.
Do you know the equation of power?
Not status or that garbage, I mean kinetic boom power.
Power = Energy over Time.
BOOM!
