Depends

Have you ever known a good person to do a bad thing?

What about the other way?

A bad person do a good thing?

Sure, we have.

Every day.

Everywhere we look.

So, here's what I will ask today:

How many good things can a bad person do before they are good?

And how many bad things can a good person do before they are bad?

In our society, one bad action results in a permanent label.

Whereas one good action really don't mean sheet.

You could stack a million good actions next to one big bad one and the bad will tower over all that good.

You are forever bad.

This is, I think, interesting.

Some things are unforgivable. At least by humans.

That makes sense.

A cold reality.

So the trick is, when you're bad, to not pick something unforgivable.

Sneak a late night snack.

An off color joke at the wrong time.

Dumping a bunch of tea that's taxed too highly.

Oh right.

Good and bad sometimes change meaning over time.

Even things like genuinely trying to be a good person can somehow be taken to be bad.

And vice versa.

Is bad just the absence of good?

Or something far darker?

Some of the bad apples have had my back.

Watched out for me.

And some of the "good" ...Well...

Where'd they go?

The trick is knowing how to measure it all.

Good and bad, I mean.

For the mighty fall. And the meek inherit.

I read that somewhere.

I lived it somewhere, too.

And no one's all of one or the other.

Except angels and monsters.

May you be surrounded by one, and not the other, depending on who you are.
