Cherish Is The Word I Use To Describe

Man.

I wrote a few drafts but erased 'em.

I tried to dig deep.

But didn't like what I struck.

So I shoveled it back.

Leveled the ground. 

Couldn't even tell I dug.

Life is this dance between nostalgia and vision and the ever present.

All happening at once.

Past, present, future.

All three are very real, though.

Which is the realist?

Realest.

I used to always think in the future.

Never the past.

But it occurs to me, that perhaps there's more past than future.

At least for me.

And thus I have a lot to look back upon, rather than look forward to.

But I do.

I look forward to a lot.

It's what long game players do.

Even old(ish) ones.

I wear my future lens with the knowledge that every good moment or not so good I get the privilege to experience is because I'm still here.

Because I still walk the earth.

The honor of life.

Of living.

Cherish every second.

As a husband and father, sometimes I just want peace and quiet.

As a husband and father, I know sometimes that's just a pipe dream.

So I take chaos and loudness.

And embrace them.

Give them both a big kiss.

And say, thank you, God.

For headphones.

And all the other stuff.

In between.

Now, shhh...
