As Far As You Go

I have a note in front of my desk that reminds me to:

Cherish every second.

And it's a fine reminder.

The pursuit of happiness is a wonderful pursuit, as far as they go.

But I think most of us confuse it with the pursuit of pleasure.

Which turns into hedonism.

Highs.

Short term.

Addiction.

Long term.

Happiness, gone term.

Now I'm not saying happiness is it, either.

We are not happy with happy.

Happy is soft.

Out of shape.

Doughy.

Just happy to be here.

To cherish is to protect and care for someone or something lovingly.

What a great word, as far as words go:

Cherish.

Your loved ones, yourself.

Every.

Second.

As far as you go.
