One of the best dudes I know was a Blackhawk helicopter pilot.

By the time I knew him, he was a 1L in law school.

But he and I quickly bonded over the repetitive lifting of heavy objects.

And we quickly became good friends.

He loved to quote a movie I'd never seen.

Backdraft.

It's a movie about firefighters firefighting and sheet.

Apparently, there's a part where the two main characters are fighting a fire that overtakes them.

One gets into dire trouble and the other holds onto him for dear life.

The one in peril tells the other to leave him, to let him go, to get out and get to safety.

And the line my buddy quotes, is the other guy's response:

"You go, we go."

He was the ultimate got-your-back, share-a-foxhole, dude.

A good man.

A badmf.

How many of those are left?

Have the honor of knowing many.

But like all old(ish) men, we have lost touch over the years.

My fault (as most things are of this ilk).

But I remember the line.

You go...

🚁

And so I ask, are you like that?

And with who?

Who's your "You go?"

And does anyone "You go" about you?
